Bob 4

This is a thought for a four way version. There would be a thin (in width and depth) main panel that could either sit on a separate sub unit, or stand alone. Drivers would be the Seas tweeter, a single W22 crossing over to a pair of Focal 10Ls at 320Hz, which would then cross over to the bass unit at 80Hz. A single Stryke AV15 should give slightly more bass output than the pair of Adire DPL12s.

Finish would be gloss black for the subs, and nitrile rubber with polished aluminium sides for the towers.


The upper mid and tweeter would be in a separate section that can be flipped around to change acoustic centers depending on whether the tower is mounted on the sub or stands alone.

This is the plan for making Bob look like he is not constructed from cheap MDF. The panels will be all black with nitrile rubble covering the front.

Then I will have an aluminium side panel made, a bit like a less alien version of the Revel speakers.

And that will be that.

I did a test baffle for a four way. While I like it, I suspect the real estate it will take up by the time I add a sub may be a bit too much. The estimable Dr Linkwitz also feels simplicity may be the way to go in these things.

I also did a version with stretched Orion-style side panels.I think this looks pretty cool and I will probably just do that. See on the next page if I did....
